Post Doctoral Fellow
The Post Doctoral Fellow (fixed term for one year) will participate in two research projects within the Brain Research Group led by Prof Tim David.
The first concerns the modelling and simulation of neurovascular coupling, where lumped parameter models are used to simulate the complex chemical pathways occurring in a network of neurons, astrocytes, smooth muscle and endothelial cells. The simulations run in parallel using MPI.
The second project investigates the complex dynamics of coupled cells, both form a discrete formulation and also using homogenisation theory to form p.d.e.s simulating complex oscillatory dynamics.
The successful applicant should have an excellent background in Maths/ Engineering, understand parallel algorithms and the ability to run simulations on HPC hardware and able to provide day-today support for postgrad students.
The group works very closely with Assoc Profs Mike Plank and Rua Murray of the School of Maths/Stats.
The Fellow may be required to collaborate with other Researchers and may be responsible for other aspects of the research project.
